5 days after surgery and I feel great! A little sore but no pain...Tylenol every 4 hours does the trick! Well it's been a crazy week! Surgery on Monday went well....it took about 2 1/2 hours. Surgeon did a great job....she was able to save all the nerves in the area so that should lessen any issues down the road! I felt great immediately after the surgery and they let me come home! I went back to work on Weds and felt great! Yes it does help to get moving and back to normal as soon possible!!!! I saw both the surgeon and oncologist on Friday morning. From the surgeon side....need to leave the drain in for a while longer. Still draining about 80 cc every 24 hours....drain needs to remain until less then 30cc in two consecutive 24 hour periods!!! But that is ok...I got the ok to take a real shower...no more baths with water only to my waist!!!!! Now for oncologist....surgery removed a total of 21 lymph nodes and surrounding tissue. 4 of the 21 had cancer along with cancer shown in the surrounding tissue. Not great, but certainly better than having more! So all in all....between last year and now...I had 27 lymph nodes removed and 6 were cancer! So moving forward...the hope is ALL cancer is truly removed from my body now! Keep your fingers crossed!!!! So no more Chemo since it did not KILL the cancer previously. Radiation only to the lymph node area! I'll be having the radiation back at the Chem Center in Stoneham(close to home). Not sure how many at this point, more then likely about the same as prior on the breast...35 treatments! I'll find all that out over the next few weeks....radiation can not start until I am completely healed so probably looks like beginning end of October. All in all I think medically everything went as good as could be expected....surgeon actually said I was her prodigy....she never had anyone go back to work 48 hours after this type of surgery!!!!
On the home front things aren't great....my parents house went on fire on Thursday around supper time.....no one was home so no one was hurt thank god! But they lost the kitchen completely and many many windows where broken out completely. Alot of smoke damage, etc! So they can't stay in the house they are currently with my aunt and uncle and we'll try to figure out the best place for them moving forward since it looks like it will be 2 to 3 months before all is completely and ready for them to move back in!! As for the kids...they both seem to be adjusting to college pretty well! Caitlin is home this weekend and both of them will be home next week (Columbus Day Holiday!) Caitlin is home for the breast cancer walk on Sunday...her and and friends came home because they are working the merchandise tent at the walk! I haven't seen her yet......she worked last night in at the Harpoon Beer Fest in Boston. She had gone before I got home form work and I was sound asleep when she got home...now I'm up and moving and she is still sleeping!!!!
Finally....I'll go back to what kept me going last year though Chemo....the RED SOX!!!! Amazing....they won game 2 in LA last night...so the are 2 games to nothing against Angels for the ADLS series. Back to fenway Sunday night for game 3! I'll be very serious....I am shocked! I didn't expect them to be doing so good!!!
Well...gotta go for now....busy weekend with Caitlin home, breast cancer walk tomorrow, etc....so I better get some house work done!!!!

Hi Renie,
You are truly an inspiration! Donna and family are also walking today. Paddy and I prayed for you and Donna and all those affected by this dread disease this morning at Mass. You and all are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. Up Red Sox!!! (as they say in Ireland). God Bless.
