Ok...treatment#2 of cycle#2 complete. Very uneventful and 2 days later I feel good. Appointment was at 3:00pm on Friday, I worked until around 1:45, stopped at home quickly to meet Bernie and JohnPaul and straight into Boston! For all of you who having been reading for a couple of years now...my nephew JohnPaul was living in LA for the past 3 years or so...and he has now moved back home! We're all glad he's here. He arrived hope late on Tuesday night and wanted to come to chemo with us...so he did! I'm glad he came...although I did fall asleep half way through the infusion(benedryl knocks me out)...he kept Bernie company!!! So my appointment was at 3, we arrived about 2:40 and they took me right away. IV put in and blood drawn. I then had an hour or so to wait. They need result from blood tests, then it takes time to prepare the Chemo. Nurse actually explained that an ingredient for this chemo Iexparma(sp?) is frozen and takes almost 45 min to defrost before they can mix it and they will not begin defrost until they know it will be used...I guess it's expensive and since I'm in a trial the drug are covered by the drug company so they have major controls in place to ensure used correctly. Anyways, I took my beeper and we went down to the food court and Bernie and John Paul ate their lunch. I had already eaten at work but I did have some lomein. By 4:20 or so I was in the chair and pre meds started....everything was finished just after 6:00pm...headed straight home and I went straight to bed...slept through until about 9:00am on Sat and felt good. Didn't do much yesterday just rested as normal. Next week we are going to try a 3:00 infusion also...I get both drugs next week the chemo and Avastin but the avastin is now infused over 30 min so considering I finished just after 6:00pm this week they thought I would be ok to stay with same time frame...infusion center closes at 7:00 so if everything works the same, I will be finished by 6:30 or so! 3:00 works good for all of us...I can get to work for a while, Bernie gets to sleep longer and when its all complete I can go straight to bed for the night versus sleeping the afternoon away and being awake in the middle of the night!
So still waiting to know exactly when my CT scan will be....I'll call this week to find out...they were suppose to call me but I haven't heard yet. Planning in my mind it will be the first week in Nov...hopefully the 2nd and I'll see doc on the 4th for results. Still is tough not knowing, but I need to focus on the present not the future and continue to move forward to get through these next few weeks without knowing.
To all who have tried to call, send cards, send emails and I haven't been able to respond...thank you and please understand I'm not trying to ignore anyone and I thank you all for your caring, but I'm at a point that most times I don't want to talk about how I feel or what did the doctor say anymore...so I'll promise to update this at least once a week and as quickly as I can when I have different news....but for please know, I'm ok and will continue to move forward and fight this!
