Weekend Update! (Sunday, August 19th AM)

WOW...I feel like I have a hangover headache and all I had was 3 drinks last night! Although I didn't get drunk...I think I've had my fill of alcohol! Friday night Caitlin and I (Bernie and Sean were both working) went to dinner with mom and dad. We had a nice time and on Bernie's suggestion I had 2 "speciality drinks" instead of Corona...(he has been keeping them in the refig. nice and cold so I can have them at home when ever I want! ) I do not remember the name of the drink, it was a mixture of white wine, peach schnapps and fruit juices...they were good! Yesterday, I went to the hospital for my blood work...it was really quick, I think I was gone all of 20 minutes....everyone was sleeping and they didn't even know I was gone!!! I guess the good thing of all this is everything is so close to home...hospital about 1 mile east and cancer center about 3 miles west....so I can get to either very quickly!!! Our family night out last night end up just Bernie, Caitlin and I....we went into Boston (actually Cambridge) to the Cheesecake Factory. Sean was with his friends in at Fenway Park trying to get tickets to the Red Sox game and was suppose to meet us for dinner afterwards but that didn't happen! But that's OK, I need to let the kids handle this the way they need and Sean spending his last weekends of the summer before school starts with his parents is certainly not what I would have wanted when I was 17...so I guess I understand! Anyways, we had a nice dinner, Bernie finally got to order his own Meatloaf Dinner from the Cheesecake Factory instead of just having someone else's doggy bag (left overs)and I was able to do a little shopping at the Cambridge Side Galleria Mall. I bought my New Future Great Niece (due in January!!!) a Pink Red Sox Jogging Suit and Pink Little Red Sox Hat (her hat matches mine!!!) After dinner we went by and dropped the baby's new outfit off to Elana and headed home! I hope Bobby likes the jogging suit...I thought this could be her outfit for the first few father and daughter days...I can't picture Bobby trying to dress a little girl in a dress!!!! When we got home, I crashed...I guess Bernie's comment to the oncologist team about me having 1 drink and going to sleep is true...although as I mentioned above I had 3 last night before crashing!!!!
So today is "Prepare for Thursday day"....I just called the pharmacy to have my prescriptions filled and will pick them up a little later, I need to stock up on a number of over the counter medicines also, and begin to pack my "chemo bag". Many suggestions out on the web on what to bring with you so I'll try to get what I can and then see how first treatment goes....not sure how I'll do just sitting for 3 to 4 hours while this treatment takes place!!!! I've read you can't have cell phones or laptops in some places but others talk about using their cell phone during treatment so I'll have to check on Thursday on whether or not I can use them....if they are wireless and I can have my laptop....that would be cool....I can update this blog while I'm having treatment or maybe even get some work done!!!!

John... I hope you didn't drink too much out there in sunny California...sun and alcohol don't mix very well! FYI...weather here is like a fall weekend...sunny, windy, and cool...low 70's!!!

Gotta go....I'll update again on Tuesday after I have my Central Port put in and let everyone know how it goes....appointment is at noon on Tuesday the 21st!!!!
