Afternoon all! First Taxol treatment is complete. Right now feel pretty good, tired but OK! I couldn't keep my eyes open when we got home around 1:00pm and went straight to bed and have been sleeping since... so almost 3 hours!
To all who have been concerned I haven't posted since Tuesday AM,..sorry, been a real busy all week on all fronts! So update from last post on Tuesday AM....All though I wanted to go into the Red Sox Rolling Rally....I was way to tired and still had a lot to accomplish at work....so I stayed at work all day Tuesday, but during a lunch break...I was able to watch the NECN live coverage via the web....projected onto our large screen! It was cool! Also on Tues, one of the guys that had been in Belgium last week brought me a package....inside were 4 of the T-Shirts that Patrick will be wearing in the New York Marathon this week end! They are great! He is running the race in Honor of Gustavo, his friend that past away and as support for me! http://www.bloggen.be/runpatrun/#top Here is the link again to his blog...picture of T-Shirt is there a few posts down! Weds was another long day. I was up early checking project status with Europe before our 8:00am Go/NO Go meeting. Things went good...Go decision made and then we spent the remainder of the day continuing our programing details and processes that will be needed for go live on Monday! I did leave the office around 3:30 or so to rest. Headed to Mom's around 5:30 to see CJ all dressed up....he was a penguin!!! Caitlin and I then went with Patti and the girls to see "High School Musical" at the Wang Center in Boston. It was a wonderful show! I did get pretty tied at the end but it was a nice evening! Thursday was a full day at work...finished up everything that I needed to....I think and let's hope! Came home last night to an envelope from the Boston Red Sox. Inside was a few pictures of the players, including Jonathan Papelbon!! But more importantly, a little plastic bag about 2' by 2" filled with real dirt from Fenway park!!! It's cool! I think Sean was more excited then I and Caitlin just laughed and said what are you going to do with that!!! Last night was an early night....went up to bed to watch Survivor and didn't make it to the end. I was sound asleep before 9:00PM....didn't have to set the alarm...I was pleasantly surprised to read Sean had no school today....All Souls days so they had no school! So...I slept until Jake work be up barking around 8:20am or so! Felt great, but Mom came at 9:00 so I was rushing around!! That's OK...I got in my coffee, was able to stop and eat something quickly and make it to my appointment at 9:45am!
So treatment had a little different process today! NO waiting in the Oncologist office...I walked in and they took me immediately....I guess having a later then usual appointment is good...they wanted to move quick and get me to the infusion center because they like to be complete on Fridays' by 2:00! OK so after getting the blessing from Onc that treatment could occur, it was a quick smoke outside then to infusion center! As normal bag of saline hitched up to get fluids into me, I then had the normal ativan pill and this time I received 2 pills for Nausea ( I believe they were Emend) and I then received a shot of something like Pilosec to help the heartburn and indigestion. Then to the bags, first was the normal steroid, then when that was complete, a bag of Benedryl to help stop any possible allergic reaction....once that was complete...it was then the bag of TAXOL. Taxol dripped for 1 hour, blood pressure taken every 15 min....and everything went well! So it was OK! I feel pretty good right now...Mom is having dinner tonight in stead of Bobby! Looks like they will probably take alternate weeks moving forward!
Some good news also....this Round# 2 is going to be definitely 12 weeks as long as nothing outrageous happens! They said if I had to miss a week...they just adjust the dose on the following weeks so I get the total same dosage of taxol even if only in 11 shots! I liked that but at the same time that would mean all doses moving forward would be more or higher so may have worst side effects! But I'm going to try and sty on this every Friday schedule as much as I can so I d not have to do that...especially if this one is OK and I can stay with a normal world just being off work on one day! So everyone...keep you fingers crossed.....as in the past, day one can be good and then it can be down hill...let's hope not with this one!
OK....no more babbling! I'll try to get back to my daily posts so everyone knows how I'm doing....sorry for any worry I might of caused and thank you for caring!!!!
